Everything you need to know about Velamari — from hardware installation to fleet management features.
Getting Started
Velamari is a smart monitoring and fleet management platform built specifically for charter fleet operators. A compact hardware device on each boat captures real-time sensor data (GPS, depth, wind, heel, speed) and sends it to your cloud dashboard — giving you complete visibility over your fleet, automatic incident detection, and tools to manage bookings and changeovers.
Charter fleet operators of any size — from 3 boats to 50+. Whether you run bareboat, skippered, or crewed charters, Velamari replaces the guesswork of managing a fleet with real-time data and purpose-built tools for charter operations.
Most marine tracking systems are built for commercial shipping or fishing. Velamari is purpose-built for charter workflows: automatic incident detection with sensor evidence, changeover day management, booking integration, AI crew assistant for guests, and shareable trip replays. It's not just GPS dots on a map — it's complete charter fleet intelligence.
No. The device installs in minutes without a technician. The dashboard is designed for fleet managers, not engineers. If you can use a smartphone, you can use Velamari. Get started.
Yes. Request a demo and we'll give you a personalized walkthrough with your fleet in mind. No commitment until you're convinced — talk to the founder first.
Hardware & Installation
The Velamari Pulse is a compact fleet intelligence device for sailboats and motorboats. It captures GPS position, depth, wind, heel angle, speed, heading, engine data, and barometric pressure from your boat's NMEA instruments and sends everything to your cloud dashboard via built-in 4G cellular. On boats without an instrument bus, it connects via a simple 12V power cable and monitors location, motion, and pressure using its own sensors. Order your Pulse devices.
Plug the device into your boat's NMEA bus, then mount it in a fixed position using the included adhesive mount — the device needs a consistent orientation for accurate heel and motion measurements. That's it: one cable for power and data, one sticker to fix it in place. No drilling, no haul-out, no technician. Scan the QR code on the device to see the step-by-step install guide and claim the device to your account.
Yes. The Pulse works on any boat — sailboats and motorboats alike. On motorboats with NMEA instruments (most boats 25ft and up), it reads engine RPM, fuel consumption, temperature, depth, and more alongside GPS and motion data. On motorboats without an instrument bus, you connect it with a standard power cable (12V from your switch panel) and it works as a location and motion monitor using its own GPS, IMU, and barometric sensors. Same device, no configuration needed — it automatically detects what's available.
Yes. The Pulse supports both NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 natively — no external gateway or converter needed. For NMEA 2000 boats, plug in via the T-connector. For NMEA 0183 boats, connect three wires from your chartplotter or instrument head to the screw terminal on the device. Both give you the same full sensor data. If your boat has no instrument bus at all, the Pulse still works as a location and motion monitor via its own GPS, IMU, and barometric sensors. See the installation guide for wiring details by boat brand.
No. The Pulse has a built-in 4G cellular modem with its own SIM. It works independently — no boat WiFi, no hotspot, no guest network needed.
The Pulse draws power from the boat's 12V system (via the NMEA backbone or a direct power cable). It also has a built-in backup battery that provides continued operation if boat power is disconnected — so you still get tracking data even when the boat is on the hook with systems off.
Features & Platform
Live and historical data for every boat: GPS position, speed, heading, depth, wind speed and direction, heel angle, engine RPM, water temperature, and barometric pressure. All displayed on an interactive map with weather overlays.
Velamari continuously analyzes sensor data and automatically detects five types of incidents: groundings (depth vs. draft), heavy weather exposure, excessive heel angles, speed anomalies, and geofence breaches. Each incident is logged with full sensor context and timestamps — ready for insurance claims or guest disputes. Learn more.
An AI assistant available to guests during their charter. It can answer questions about the boat, suggest anchorages and restaurants based on your local knowledge as an operator, and provide general sailing area information. You control what knowledge it has access to, and your team can see every conversation and step in at any time. Learn more.
Every charter is automatically recorded as a complete trip — route, stops, speeds, conditions. After the charter, a shareable replay is generated that guests can share with friends. It's branded with your company name, and every share is free marketing reaching your exact target audience. Learn more.
On changeover day, it shows you a prioritized queue of returning boats with live ETAs, incident flags, and charter context (who's leaving, who's arriving). Track each boat through your changeover workflow — from returning to inspected to ready. No more guessing when boats arrive or which ones need attention first. Learn more.
Yes. Velamari includes a drag-and-drop booking calendar with automatic conflict detection. You can import your existing bookings from Excel (with smart column mapping) or connect your Booking Manager account for automatic two-way sync of fleet, charters, and guest details. Learn more.
Upload your Excel file and Velamari will automatically recognize boats, dates, guests, and ports. You can also enter your fleet website URL and we'll scan it to import boat names, models, photos, and home ports. Migration takes minutes, not days.
Yes. Define your home port geofence (used for automatic trip detection) and set restricted areas. You'll get immediate notification with position, heading, and speed when a charter crosses a boundary.
Yes. Every incident includes timestamped sensor data, GPS position, weather context, and severity classification. You can share a trip link directly with your insurer or surveyor. It's designed to strengthen claims and resolve disputes with evidence, not guesswork. Learn more.
Yes. One-click integration with Booking Manager (MMK). Your fleet inventory, charter reservations, and guest details sync automatically. Keep using your existing PMS — Velamari adds monitoring and fleet intelligence on top.

Data & Privacy
Sensor data from your boat's instruments (position, depth, wind, speed, heel, heading, temperature, pressure) and device telemetry (cellular signal, battery level). We don't collect personal data from guests unless they interact with the AI crew assistant, in which case only the conversation content is stored.
Your fleet data is stored securely in European cloud infrastructure. We use encrypted connections for all data transmission from device to dashboard.
No. Guests only see what you choose to share: trip replays (which exclude incidents and operational data) and the AI crew assistant. Your dashboard, incident reports, and fleet analytics are visible only to you and your team.
Project SeaSense is a non-profit marine science foundation. Every Velamari device contributes anonymized ocean data (temperature, pressure, wind patterns) to a global research network that helps climate scientists. Your fleet helps monitor the ocean while you monitor your fleet — at no extra effort or cost.
Support
Send us a message or reach us through the dashboard. We typically respond within a few hours during business days.
Yes. While installation is designed to be self-service, we provide step-by-step guidance and can walk you through the process via video call if needed. For large fleet deployments, we can arrange on-site installation support.
We ship improvements continuously. New features and updates are included in your subscription at no extra cost. You'll see improvements in your dashboard without needing to do anything.
The subscription is billed annually. If you decide Velamari isn't right for your fleet, you can cancel at the end of your billing period. The hardware is yours to keep. No risk — get started today.
